Coughing is your body's way of eliminating foreign substances from the respiratory passages. There are many different types and causes of coughs so it is necessary to determine these factors to enable proper treatment. If your cough is producing mucous then follow the advice in the Colds section to avoid mucous-forming foods.

For the immediate and effective relief of dry and irritating coughs try 'ImmunActin Throat Syrup' with elderberry, white willow and slippery elm, and 'ImmunActin Throat Spray' with olive leaf, elderberry and echinacea. 'Santaspina Syrup' is also indicated for dry and tickly coughs, and contains spruce and honey and is suitable for children over two years.
Propolis - produced by bees, this is a combination of tree resin, beeswax and enzymes used to protect the hive. It has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, and also contains bioflavonoids, powerful antioxidants that help to support the immune system. Propolis has a soothing and cooling action on the throat.
For adults the 'Fortacold Herbal Elixir' is designed to support the immune system during illness. For children over two years of age the 'Children's Natural Cough Elixir' combines natural Manuka Honey, Bee Propolis and Echinacea, in an alcohol-free formulation. This elixir is designed to pleasantly provide soothing temporary relief in a natural lemon and honey flavour and can be used to support the immune system.
Wild Cherry - wild cherry bark soothes tickly irritated coughs. 'Wild Cherry Syrup' is suitable for adults and children over 2 years of age.
Drosinula and Hedera - these are antispasmodic and expectorant and make 'Drosinula Syrup' useful for deep, racking, flemey coughs.
Lobelia - for adults and children over 12 years 'Lobelia Homeopathic Tincture' can help relieve a coughing attack. It sooths and relaxes the bronchial muscle, and helps to dislodge mucous. Traditionally used as an anti-spasmodic and expectorant and is best taken in homeopathic form.

Osha - known as the 'Indian Penicillin', osha has a long history of use in treating children's coughs and chest problems. 'Osha Syrup' also contains thyme and liquorice and is suitable from 2 years upwards.
